It will not blow up or something just from using it. It’s possible that it’s been overcharged, and subsequently will not retain a charge. The worst that will happen is that it won’t power your kid’s toy for very long, or perhaps not at all. Just like a dead battery. Subsequent attempts to charge it will result in full charge indication, but still go dead very shortly, if it works at all.
If you get normal, or regular usage out of it, then it’s okay. Maybe not ideal, maybe you’ll need to replace it a few months sooner than otherwise, but at least you’ll still have usefulness left.
But you’ll be just as safe trying it out as you would be with a normally charged battery.
