“Recycling Rules” is a new scheme being pioneered by US stationary suppliers Office Depot. The aim is to combat waste in education by providing recycling facilities for ink and toner cartridges and small electronic items.
This is just one of the rewards which will be given to teachers to improve their classes while at the same time teach their pupils the importance of recycling. It will hopefully aid learning in schools which did not previously have access to learning aids and equipment.
Recycling boxes will be shipped free of charge to schools once someone in their classroom has signed up to the scheme online. The boxes contain information about the programme and recycling suggestions which can be incorporated into curriculum learning. Once this has been removed there will be space to place used supplies or recyclable waste such as empty ink toner cartridges and small electronic items. Rewards will be sent out after the boxes have been returned full to Office Depot for recycling.
This unique and inspiring educational method has been praised as mutually beneficial for all involved. It will also establish with students the need to recycle and protect the environment for future generations. If the scheme is successful it is expected to be followed by a nationwide scheme which many other stationary companies will want to take part in.
It’s high time that something was done to support teachers, who spend an average of $936 of their own money on classroom supplies, say the National School Supply and Equipment Association.
Teachers deserve these rewards after investing their own money into their student’s futures for so long. Hopefully the scheme will allow for better educational aids and supplies to reach classrooms, providing children with a quality education and securing the future of the environment.
