Before you send it to the landfill, inspect it closely to see if it still has life. One can never be sure, with a little imagination and elbow grease it may very well become a thing of beauty. Heck, who knows, maybe you can even sell it.
When we think of art it may not be a chair that was saved from a landfill but I can tell you that I think that chair I saved is. Someday I’m going to show it to my neighbor and see if she recognizes it.
One of the most important components is of course color. It is very likely the biggest difference between your home being in Home and Garden and not being able to sell it without color changes. Well, maybe that comparison is a little drastic but I think you get my point.
In the art of building homes, recycling is the key to creating an eco-friendly space for people. For those needs that can’t be created with recycled products there are environmentally friendly products, such as bamboo, no lead paint, cork, hemp, etc. The power to run such a home could be solar or perhaps wind power. Water can be stored and recycled. Trash can be recycled to mulch your lawn. All it takes is a little thought and know-how and your home too can become environmentally interactive and still a thing of beauty.
Architecture has taken many turns over the years, from the log cabin to the skyscraper. Most were not too environmentally friendly, gracefully beautiful though they might be. Now that we have found a need to preserve power, we have invented new ways to create not only beauty but also ways to incorporate what nature has given us into our buildings. We harness the sun’s power to create electricity via solar panels, use the wind in the same manner and recycle our rain and wastewater as well as the use of recycled materials to build our eco-friendly homes.
Near Phoenix Arizona, is an entire community built with the sole purpose of protecting the environment while creating a pleasant, working and living space for people. It is solar and wind powered, with water reservoirs and multi-purpose buildings. Its residents are college students and experts on the environment and it is through their imaginations and know-how that Arcosanti came to life.
Before I go I want to make mention of one more quite interesting form of green art that I found. That is the masterpieces created by Mark Fischer. He has used his expertise in sound equipment to translate the sounds of aquatic animals into patterns that are not only beautiful but colorfully decorative pieces of art.
So maybe with just a little effort and imagination we can all save just a little piece of the environment and put it on the wall. Come check out some green art by Jamie at my web site https://www.remembermesite.com
