Cordless power tools have revolutionized the way homeowners and professionals work with power tools. The first cordless drill was introduced in the 1960s. Since that time, they have become more powerful, and the batteries last much longer.

MAKITA power tool battery is one of them.

Here are some MAKITA power tool battery tips:

Reset a MAKITA Battery:

Press the battery pack removal button, located on the back of the power tool’s handle, to release the battery pack from the MAKITA power tool.

Slide the battery pack along the rail track, on the bottom of the power tool, to remove the pack.

Place the battery pack into the battery pack charger with the metal contact side matching the metal contacts in the charger.

Let the battery pack charge for eight hours. Your MAKITA battery pack is now reset.

Recharge a MAKITA power tool battery:

If a downside to cordless drills exists, it is managing battery power and recharging to prevent interruptions during the project. Make it a point to know the battery type and its characteristics being used with the drill. Doing so helps improve battery management and will ultimately extend its life.

Plug the battery charger directly into the outlet. Avoid using extension cords to reduce the effects of voltage drop. MAKITA power tool battery chargers use transformers and solid-state components for charging batteries. Supplying less than adequate voltage to the charger has the potential to cause overheating and damage to the charger and battery.

Remove the MAKITA power tool battery from the drill and wipe any debris from the exposed terminals before inserting it in the charger. Line up the battery with the charger and slide it in all the way. A red or green power light will come on when the MAKITA power tool battery is in the charger. Different cordless tool manufacturers build chargers specifically for their batteries. For this reason, most MAKITA power tool batteries will only fit into chargers provided by the same company.

Charge MAKITA power tool battery when temperatures are between freezing and 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep the charger clean and the vents free of debris. Allow the battery to stay on charge until the charger indicator shows the charge to be complete. Because different tool manufactures use a different sequence of colored indicator lights on their chargers, check the tools operating manual for the meaning of each light. Today’s chargers often have a legend stuck to the charger showing what each light means and how to tell when the charge is complete.

Storage a MAKITA power tool battery:

If you don’t plan on using the MAKITA power tool battery for a month or more, we recommend storing it in a clean, dry, cool place away from heat and metal objects. NiCad, NiMH and Li-Ion batteries will self-discharge during storage.

Extend a MAKITA power tool battery Life?

Do you feel better when you are in a controlled environment? Your MAKITA power tool battery do too. Remove this MAKITA power tool battery from the power equipment. You should store the power tool in the climate controlled area also. They perform better at room temperature.

Place the plastic protective cap on this MAKITA power tool battery for safety reasons. If left uncapped you could receive a shock or they could cause a fire if the terminals contact a metal surface.

Place this MAKITA power tool battery in a environmentally controlled area (example a closet). Batteries will last in most situations twice as long as leaving them in a cool, hot, cold or damp garage or vehicle.

Charge this MAKITA power tool battery about once every 45 days, just to keep it fresh in case you need to use them and you know you will ( example Christmas lights, gifts etc.).
